About
Heroine TV is a blog devoted to high quality and addictive television, featuring strong female characters. It often involves vampire slayers, killer robots, spies, superheroes, spaceships, red-headed secretaries, and bitchy brunette teen queens. Find recaps, reviews, video clips, interviews, and my take on the latest TV news.
Who runs this blog?
My name is Lucia (loo-CHEE-a), and I am addicted to television. Like, a lot. I love to watch it, think about, talk about, write about, and then talk about it some more. I have a point of view, and I love to share it. I created Heroine TV on September 23rd, 2008, as a way to express my thoughts on my favorite shows, and to share interesting TV news with my sisters. That way, I wouldn’t have to call them all the time to speechify, and instead they could check in with my blog for the latest updates. (I’m selfless, really. A saint.)
On July 28th, 2009, I moved the site from LiveJournal.com to WordPress.com, where I learned that people read my blog who weren’t even related to me. Shocking! Never satisfied, I decided to go self-hosted six weeks later, using BlueHost.com and WordPress.org. Things have continued to grow from there, and I am very thankful to my readers for sticking around and making so many cool opportunities possible. I’ve also been lucky enough to contribute to other awesome websites that you should check out: Buffyfest, The Televixen, and Vampire-Diaries.net.
Who else writes for this blog?
I have recently taken on three contributing writers. Emily is studying journalism in Washington, DC. She spends much of her time watching TV and becoming emotionally invested in fictional characters. You can follow her on Twitter @EmilyGuilfoil. She recaps Revenge for the site weekly. She has also been co-hosting the Heroine TV Podcast, where we have been discussing shows like Arrow, The Vampire Diaries, Nashville, Homeland, Revolution, and many more.
Johnni is a graduate of the University of Southern California. She is an aspiring journalist with a passion for television and an unhealthy obsession with fictional characters. She may or may not be planning to marry Tim Riggins or live in an apartment with a purple door and yellow frame with her gal pal Rachel Green. You can follow her on Twitter @Johnnimacke. She has been recapping Once Upon A Time for us, and has also composed a character study piece on Caroline Forbes of The Vampire Diaries.
Gabby is a human woman working on her Masters degree in Social Work in Ottawa, Canada. Her studies come secondary to the amount of time she spends watching TV and tweeting about it (@GloryisBen). She is also a contributor for Fantastic Fangirls, where she geeks out about comics and pop culture through a female perspective with a plethora of talented writers. You can find her on tumblr. She has recently started reviewing Parenthood for the site, and has written a thoughtful postmortem on Fringe‘s Etta Bishop.

Hi Lucia
Two things
1) I’d like your permission to (re)print your article on Mad Men for our website.
2) I was hoping we could use your ‘scribing’ talent for our website.
The best shows youre not watching . com
Mad Men is one of our featured shows. We’re hoping to round up a few people who can occasionally contribute perspective (via an article/blog) on the shows – maybe a recent episode, future direction, plot shortcomings etc
What’s in it for you?
Primarily a larger audience back channeled to your blog. We don’t pay but the site has a lot of promise and we’re pretty excited about getting it off the ground. Let me know what you think.
Thanks
T.
BTW, we LOVE your selections. J Whedon is amazing!
Thanks! Yes, you may reprint my article! Can you link back to this site as well, at the bottom of the article (or something to that effect)? I’ve been blogging for almost a year now, but it wasn’t until I moved my site from LiveJournal to WordPress that I started getting traffic beyond my family
I would love to contribute to your site in the future, and plan on writing up a recap/ review for the Mad Men premiere, if that’s something you’d be interested in.
Lucia
Great blog Looch. I am clueless about these shows but your blog has a great look. Good job! Must be challenging to keep the blog up while you’re in a PhD program!
I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For some reason I have never seen this page before.
I’m glad that you like it. You should read my FAQ page too. Also, let me know if you have any ideas to improve this section, or any other.
Lucia, Hi there I am your 1st grade teachers husband and Sara’s friend…Sara told me about your site…..I just watched Battlestar Galectica, the whole series in about 2 months and absolutely loved it and I want to read your blog on it…how do I find it? Thanks David
Thanks for checking out my site, David. I have a tag cloud, labeled Heroine TV topics, in the right sidebar of the site. There is also a search bar, so you can search for whatever you like. Here is a link to all the posts that I’ve written about Battlestar Galactica: http://www.heroinetv.com/tag/battlestar-galactica/
Unfortunately, I didn’t write regular recaps, but I do have some links to great video and interviews, and my live commentary of the series finale.
Your list is probably the closest to my own personal tastes that I’ve ran into. I was sold on “Everwood”… so underrated! Blogrolling you… will return
Oh, good! I will check out your site too. Thanks!
Hello Lucia (my name also have this name, are you italian or from parents?)
Anyway, I love your recaps are just amazing…. so funny! Thank you.
Thank you! Yes, my grandparents were Italian. I was named after my grandmother.
I want to write “my mom also have this name” – had a mistake, sorry.
Thanks for commenting Chandi! Yeah, I’ve sort of been on an illicit vacation from grad school, as I’m just sort of burnt out and disheartened with the program. Shouldn’t be spending time on this, but it’s just so fun.
