Hey Lucia it's me Cassandra again Lol I was at a family barbeque all day so when I came home and checked your blog I just had to listen because Mad Men is one of my favorite shows all thanks to you funny story back when the show first premiered it was a little too slow for me and I decided it wasn't the show for me which is shocking because I am a unapologetic Tv addict but then I discovered your blog and listened to your podcasts and decided to try the show again and It wasn't until Don proposed to Megan in "Tomorrowland" that I was completely sold on it but ultimately I loved the show the second time around all thanks to you.
There is so much you talked about that I love and want to comment on but what I want to mostly comment on is of the character of Don Draper I know you're not a fan of his character and I know he does not deserve any sympathy after everything he has done but I can't help feeling sorry for him this season has been the lowest I think I've ever seen of him and I hated him all through season 6 from his cheating again to him being stalkerish to Sylvia when he has a damn wife at home but when Sally saw him "comforting" Sylvia oh my god I felt so bad for him even though I know he brought it out on himself and I felt horrified for Sally what I want so fascinating is that he wasn't worried whether or not she told other people but because he was disgusted with himself because she had seen him in that position and it hurts him that she doesn't want to speak to him it makes me believe that out of all the people in his life Sally is definitely the most important person in his life and I love that final shot in the season finale where they just look at each other it's so beautiful when Don takes his kids where he grew up it is so beautiful basically all of the finale episode made me sympathize with him from the Hershey's meeting to the partners deciding that he should take a break for awhile yes I am a Don fan even after six seasons of him doing despicable things that's the great thing about Mad Men besides the great clothes and hair they have all these fascinating characters who do these horrible not so nice things yet I can't help but root for them and what i want for Don next season is a redemption storyline where he finally gets it together and repairs his relationship with Sally.(which if you haven't noticed is my favorite relationship on the show) what I also would really like is for Don to stop drinking but seeing that this is Mad Men I don't see that happening.
Speaking of Sally I really love her character journey this season it was so fun watching her grow up and finally seeing Don in a new light she doesn't put him on a pedestal anymore she finally sees him for who he really is but my favorite scene of all this season was when she was at the boarding school and she watches Glen and that boy who tried to kiss her fight she has this smile on her face it was very reminiscent of a noir film called "Out of Past" it was made in 1947 I don't know if you've seen maybe you already have but you should check it it's a pretty good movie.
This is was a such a good season of Mad men and I wish I could comment more but then this would be be a long detailed comment and I don't have the time for that but this was another good podcast I always like reading and listening different perspectives on television and movies and I especially love it when you and your sister Francesca podcast . Don't tell any of your co-podcasters but she is my favorite along side you you guys remind me of my sister and me . I don't mean to sound like a broken record but great podcast I look forward to whatever you podcast next!
