The Nine Paths to Chloe King: The game begins …
Leading up to the premiere of The Nine Lives of Chloe King, on June 14th at 9/8c, ABC Family is running a promotional game: The Nine Paths to Chloe King. I will be playing the game for the next couple weeks. (Luckily, it is not a video game, because I lack hand-eye coordination.) You can join in the game too, on the Nine Paths site. If you do decide to play, be sure to follow my updates on Twitter and my blog posts here, because I will be posting clues to help you along your way. As an added incentive, ABC Family is giving away a set visit to the first person to correctly execute the Nine Paths. ABC Family has sent a game kit out to a number of bloggers and journalists, and mine arrived today. I love the mysterious runes on the box and the intriguing clues inside. I am just the type of nerd who gets excited about such things, so I think this game is going to be a lot fun. Here is the super cool box and its contents:
As soon as my MaiPad (a customized iPad) arrived, I started playing. Drumroll please … I have unlocked the First Path. (Okay, fine, it took me about a minute. Not really an amazing accomplishment. But hey, success!) As a reward, I get to share information with you guys. Here is the Mai Uniter Scroll.
I assume that “The Uniter” is Chloe King herself. A warrior who is part god and part human? Not too shabby. According to the email I received, “This scroll tells the story of The Uniter and has invaluable information that will help you along your Journey.” Get your Veronica Mars hats on, people. Hmmm.
Also, there are a limited number of Circle Charms now available on the Nine Path’s game site. The first of you to step forward with the password “Circle” will receive an award. Here is the fine print about the Circle Charms and the game rules, so that there’s no confusion:

I had figured out the first clue by doing resarch online, then it takes me to the second part witht he Mai book and Certificate. Are we to enter our second answer in the same password field again? When I do, it does not work
Hmmm. I think that the first path is the only one that is open right now, so perhaps that is the problem. They said that every few days they will be releasing clues. Were you able to complete the first path at least?
Also, since I’m not sure which password field you’re talking about, you may not be aware that there are two different places to enter clues. First, there is one place to enter the giveaway code to win the Circle Charm. That particular code should be entered in the right column on the main page, where it says “enter code,” and there’s a submit button. Then to actually complete the First Path, you click on the “Start Playing Now” button, which brings you here. As for the Second Path, we just have to wait, I believe. There are only 9 paths to distribute over the course of 3 weeks.

I was referring to the path playing the game, after you enter the first password {which I did figure out on my own} it then shows you the Mai book and the Certificate. That is where I guess we are waiting for the next clue….

Ah, okay. I played around with the version of the game that you guys are playing, so now I totally understand the confusion because there’s no “Congratulations you have completed the first path!” type message once you put in the password. (The version of the game that I’m playing is slightly different.) But don’t worry, because it seems like you haven’t missed anything yet. Once you clicked on the circle charm in the box, and put in the password that you figured out from the clues (there is only one possible password for that section at the moment), I assume that you unlocked the Uniter Scroll with sections blacked out (the scroll sans blacked out sections is in the post above). If for some reason that piece did not get unlocked, then perhaps the password was incorrect. Also, like you mentioned, the Book of Mai and the birth certificate are lying there. You can inspect them, and zoom in, but they don’t seem to do anything else at the moment. I think all three of those virtual items (scroll, book, and birth certificate) are going to be helpful clues for the future paths. I’ll make sure to keep you guys updated when the next path opens up. I must admit that I’m impatient for the next step (and for the premiere of the show)!

Kayla: to start, head over the Nine Paths game site. Then click on “start playing now.” Then carefully follow the instructions for the First Path, and once you’ve completed that one, you can move onto the Second. And so on. Hint: for the First Path, a google search is necessary, and I’d advise checking out the Wikipedia entry for Smila. As for Path 3, it is now open. Click on the Book of Mai first, as you will be looking up all the symbols in there. It should open as a PDF in a new window or tab. Then click on the note (not the cat), so that you can see the coded message with all the symbols. Decode it using the Book of Mai. Go to the Mai Alphabet section of the Book of Mai. Then when you have the note decoded, click on the statue of Bastet (the cat) to enter the last two words of the decoded note. I’ll have a post up about the third path soon.

What’s the first password, I’ve been trying for days and i can’t figure it out?

help! i already solved the second path (i hope, i did) but ít says that the password i found on flickr is incorrect. did i miss something or got the wrong picture on flickr?! thanks!
For path 2, you must first use the Book of Mai (click on the book icon for a PDF to open) to find the translation for the claw-like symbol. Once you have that one word translation, search Flickr for that word, plus “mai symbol” and you’ll find this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/63203980@N04/5747116471/ (Double check that you found the correct search result.) Then, enter the correct password you find on Flickr (it is two words) back on the ABC game site (click on the claw symbol to open the password box), and it will bring you to a video. Hope that helps!
