The first Heroine TV Podcast: Glamping, women in the sixties, Edith Wharton, vampires, and more
My sister Francesca (the author of much of the “sister commentary” on this blog and on my Twitter) agreed to let me record our latest conversation. So here is my first attempt at a Heroine TV Podcast. We talk about Pretty Little Liars, Mad Men, and True Blood … and lots of other stuff too. In case you don’t watch all three, the PLL discussion is first, and then the Mad Men talk begins at the 39:20 mark. Skip ahead to 92:40 for True Blood. Tangents include Edith Wharton’s masterpiece The Age of Innocence, One Tree Hill, The Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Gilmore Girls, Jack & Bobby, Kelly Cutrone, and more. We have a sliiiiiight problem staying on topic. Take a listen if that doesn’t bother you. Enjoy!
Update: You can now subscribe to the podcast via iTunes.
I love how in depth you talk about Mad Men. I actually learned a lot listening. (Apparently I don't pay near enough attention). And I love how you both adore Joan, although really, who doesn't? And I loved how you would get side tracked. I especially liked how your sister hardly watched any of the PLL episodes. Too funny. "What do you mean they didn't have sex?" Re: True Blood. Yeah that was kind of hard to miss. I must be a prude because that was a little too much for me. And I agree there is SO much blood, especially this season. It's awful. (YES she's a Jess fan). It really cracks me up to hear you two laugh. So fun. And it's really awesome to hear your voice. It doesn't sound at all like your twit-atar, kind of threw me. (I need to watch Jack and Bobby). Do more of these. We should do a #Scooby one. If that would even be possible. (Why did I just hashtag)?
I listened to the PLL part! It was really good! I like when you get side tracked. I like Spencer's mom too. I was so happy when she yelled at the creepy inappropriate cop. I think Hannah's geeky friend had muddy shoes because he demolished the memorial garden place not because he killed Allison. Yeah, I guess Aria is the most grown up or whatever but not when she threw the file into the stream! That was the stupidest thing ever.
Can't freaking wait to listen. I'm packing for CA so I won't be able to until next week but I reeeeeallly want to. Kick me in the shins if I haven't reported back to you by the end of next week. This is going to be so awesome.
So glad that you listened and enjoyed it! Yeah, it is always a struggle to figure out whether Francesca is caught up with shows. She is often confused, and watches things out of order. I however am obsessive about watching every bit, and in order, so I thought it might make a fun contrast for a podcast. Hee. This is the tip of the iceberg--I will share some stories on the podcast about Francesca's television journey with certain shows. I love that my twit-atar has a sound in your head, and that it's nothing like my actual voice! Hee. I'd love to do a #Scooby session too. We'll have to work out the details. (Wait, why did I just use a hashtag?) ;-)
Yeah, I don't think Lucas is the killer either ... at least I hope not. He seems so sweet. As for throwing the files in the stream, SO glad you mentioned that! Dumbest thing ever. Sigh.
No worries ... take your time. I hope that it turned out okay. I'm too biased to really judge. Enjoy your trip, and safe travels!
