HBO has picked up GAME OF THRONES
The Live Feed reports: “Winter is, indeed, coming. HBO has greenlighted highly anticipated fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones.’ The premium network has picked up the project for a first season debut next spring. Nine episodes plus the pilot have been ordered. Production will begin in Belfast this June.” Click on the following link for further details, and a larger view of the first photo released: HBO greenlights ‘Game of Thrones’ to series (pic) — The Live Feed | THR.
I am simply thrilled! My brother recommended George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series to me last spring, and I’m so glad he did. I read the first book, A Game of Thrones, over the summer, and have recently started the second book, A Clash of Kings. This is a quality fantasy series, which maintains a sense of stark realism in a foreign, yet very familiar world. The political intrigue and family drama of it all is so compelling. Funnily enough, HBO announced the first casting news for the pilot soon after I had purchased the first book, and it has been exciting imagining how all the scenes that I love so much would be translated to film. The casting news for the project has been amazing, including Jennifer Ehle as Caitlin Stark, Sean Bean as Ned Stark, and Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister. I look forward to viewing the first season on HBO, which will cover the first book in the (so-far) four-book series.
