However, from what I've heard about the show it also has a quirky sense of humor, which would prevent it from getting too sappy. It reminds me more of the emotional punch of things like <em>Juno</em> or <em>Glee</em>, rather than a sappy love story like <em>Titanic</em>. I didn't get that "very special" episode feel from the clip, but I would also hope that it doesn't develop into that type of cheese-fest. "Very special" episodes are highly annoying. Yes, some of the plot lines definitely seem absurd, but they seem to work with the tone of the show. I haven't watched the entire pilot yet, though, so I will have to wait and see ... but I do like what I've seen so far. I also hate Titanic with a fiery passion, so your criticism is well taken. I think it looks awful. Looks overly sappy and emotional and with a plot that makes little to no sense. Why would a kid in foster homes her whole life a) have to get signatures from her birth parents in order to be emancipated b) be released into parent's custody by a judge when they haven't been there her whole life c) said kid accept the fact that she is now living with negligent, abandoning parentsrather than just run away or whatever which is what the majority of people in this situation would do. Maybe it's because I hate sappy things (ala romantic dramas like titanic) but this looks like it's going to be painfully cheesy, full of "very special" episodes which I just loathe.
