‘X-Men: First Class’ Movie, Featuring Younger X-Men
OK, clearly I’ve been living under a rock, as I’m the last person to know that Josh Shwartz, creator of The O.C., Gossip Girl, and Chuck, signed on to write an X-Men movie script in November of last year. How did I not know about this? Sigh. I love the X-Men comics, cartoons, and films, so I’m beyond thrilled about this development. Schwartz’s project is not a sequel, but rather a prequel of sorts, that will focus on the X-Men when they were still in school. Awesome! In further news about X-Men: First Class, producer Lauren Shuler Donner recently stated:
“Harry Potter is a bit of a role model for us, absolutely. But we want it to be like the recent, darker Potters. It should not be a kiddie movie—we’re in the ‘X-Men’ world so you can’t suddenly change the tone.”
According to Donner, the script is not yet finished, and the roles have not yet been cast. The delay is reportedly due to the fact that Fox wants to make First Class a franchise, so they have to get it right. I hope that they can make this work, and that the project picks up further momentum soon. Click on the link below for further details:
