GOSSIP GIRL: “The Grandfather”
2009 March 26
Read on for my thoughts on Gossip Girl episode 2×19, “The Grandfather,” aired March 23rd, 2009:
The highlights:
- “Do you know how exhausting it has been being Blair Waldorf for the past 18 years. I was headed for a quarter life crisis …” Hee. Love it.
- Lily’s 2 page list. HI-larious. Serena: “It’s gonna take him 20 minutes to get to the 90s alone!” Hee. Lily: “I’m not ashamed of my past … at least not most of it.” Serena: “I think you should take a look at his little black book before you splash the yellow pages on him.” Sound advice Serena, sound advice.
- “Grandfather can be very persuasive.” Yes, yes he can. Hurrah! Nate finally got an interesting storyline! I really found myself fascinated by the family dynamic of the Vanderbilt branch of his family.
- Chuck and Serena confront sleazy Carter. Chuck fails miserably, but Serena pulls out the blackmail. Serena for the win!!! Carter: “I’m just a symptom of the disease, not the cause.” So true. But more importantly, what happened in San Torini? Hmmm.
- Nate and Blair reconnect at his grandfather’s party … and then they take it back to Blair’s. Hmmm. I actually really liked the Nate-Blair scenes in this episode. Shocker! When I saw the preview, I was really disappointed that the show was going in this direction, but this shows how much I know! Chuck, however, did not enjoy this new development as much as I do. Oh what will Chuck do now? Methinks Chuck will get serious about winning back his beloved now. But will it work?
- In conclusion, this was a game changing episode. I actually loved Serena … and dare I say it, I even liked Nate. And Carter was actually right about something. Fun, fun, fun. Now what trouble will Blair get herself into next week?
